AD Fuels has expanded its fleet by adding two new Mercedes-Benz Actros L 2446 tankers, supplied by Bell Truck and Van. These are the first Actros trucks to join the company’s existing fleet of 26 vehicles.
Equipped with powerful 10.7-litre engines delivering 460 horsepower and featuring mid-lift axles, the new trucks come with the spacious BigSpace cab outfitted with a fridge, microwave, alloy wheels, and checkerplate catwalks.
Managing Director Jon Mayes explained, “Mercedes-Benz has traditionally been under-represented in our sector, so these are our first Actros units. Our decision to move forward with these trucks was heavily influenced by James Walsh from Bells, whose proactive approach and quick response made the process seamless.”
Mayes praised the professional handling of the order and noted the comprehensive handover provided by Walsh, which included valuable operational tips for drivers. “After three months on the road, the trucks have exceeded expectations, delivering strong fuel economy and receiving positive feedback from our drivers,” he said.
Driver Mick Decourcey added, “Covering up to 2,500 miles a week on multi-night trips, I find the Actros impressive. It pulls powerfully, is fuel-efficient, and the customizable dashboard enhances the driving experience. The cab is comfortable, with a plush bed and a quietly effective night heater.”
Reflecting on his experience with Mercedes-Benz trucks, Decourcey remarked, “I drove an early Actros model in the 1990s, and the advancements since then are remarkable. The new automatic gearbox and brakes perform excellently.”
Mayes concluded, “Our new Actros trucks combine strong performance with the comfort our drivers need for long hauls. Thanks to Bells’ outstanding service, they’ve integrated smoothly into our operations.”
